A Season of Waiting

September 12, 2019

Throughout your life, you will often find yourself experiencing different spiritual seasons. No one season is alike but they all have one thing in common. If you cling closely to God's word you will come out of that season better than how you entered it.

Not all seasons are difficult. Nevertheless, in every season we must acknowledge, praise, and honor God. So whether you are experiencing a season of abundance, grinding, test and trials, happiness, spiritual warfare, or waiting.

If you enjoy this post, take a minute to bookmark one of these prayer blog posts for later. I promise you will find helpful tips for reading the bible as a beginner.
With prayer and God's guidance, you can overcome any season. I challenge you to examine yourself in every season looking for the areas in which God is trying to help you to grow.

Below you will find a prayer to help you Trust God during your difficult seasons and 3 journaling prompts for a season of waiting. Hopefully, if you find yourself in a season of waiting you will take a moment to reflect on the lessons that God is trying to show you.

Prayer to Trust God
Dear Heavenly Father, help me to truly trust you. Help me to stay focused on just how mighty of a God you are. Instead of focusing on my trials and tribulations.

Father, I pray that with every obstacle I face that I draw closer to you. Remember that you created the entire universe with just an utter of a word.

Believing that any problem that may arise you will use it for my good in the end. Help me to recognize during those difficult times that If you could create this would in just an utter. That I can't begin to imagine the things you can do to change my circumstances.

I know that Jesus too conquered this world. And so shall I because I trust you and I believe your word is the truth.

Father enables me to move mountains with mustard seed-sized faith. I believe that my faith can change my circumstances.

I ask that you remove anything in my life or mind that causes me to think otherwise. Strengthen me so that these words that I pray may become who I am in my actions. Give me the faith to act as though my circumstances have already changed. Because I know they will. In Jesus name, we pray Amen.

How to Make Bible Tabs + Bible Journaling Hacks

August 17, 2019

I recently was filled with the overwhelming desire to upgrade my bible. I just wanted to pretty it up. I considering switching bibles several months ago but honestly I really attached to my current bible.

Being able to see those highlighted pages and markings just brings me so much joy. So I knew that if I was going to do anything that it was going to be a upgrade.

I considered purchasing a set but to be honest I was not impressed with the pricing, quality, and options out there. So as per usual, I went on a search. Trying to figure out how I should apply them, what kind of paper to use, and if I would have to create them myself.

Fortunately I found that there are some amazing women of Christ out there who are sharing there bible tab downloads for free. So I downloaded them all.

If you enjoy this post, you may find these bible study blog posts helpful when it comes to bible study for beginners.

And then I remembered that I already had sticker paper from my planner sticker days. So I decided to print them on sticker paper.

I went down to my local UPS store and had it printed on my paper. I'm thankful to the woman who helped me although she said they don't usually print on other people paper especially if its not laser paper. But she had another printer in the back. So she gave it a try.

They came out great. In hindsight I should have just went and bought an inexpensive printer. Which I ended up doing recently anyways. But none the less I got my bible tabs printed so I'm happy.

If you have not already, you may want to consider trying Audible. This is a great way to listen to your books - including the ESV Study Bible - without having to read page by page. If you use my link you get 2 free audiobooks when you sign up for the 30 day free trial.

Even though it took me about 3 hours if not longer to cut them all out and apply them to my bible. I made my own guideline by simply placing the tabs where I thought they looked best. Then I marked my paper accordingly.

I love how my my bible turned out and it only cost me about $2.

How to make your own Bible Tabs

Tools I Use

  • ESV Pew Bible from Amazon (this is the one I use)
  • Scissors or tab punch
  • Sticker Paper (click here to buy this exact paper)
  • Printer
  • Bible Tab Printable

    Free Bible Tab Printable

Here's the instructions if you want to create your own DIY Bible Tabs

    1. Decide on the paper you will be printing on. Whether you use card stock, copy paper, or sticker paper. Just remember if you don't use sticker paper you will need to purchase some type of adhesive - like washi tape, double stick tape, or glue stick.
    2. Now that you've decide on your paper you need to print your bible tabs. I am so grateful for these women of Christ who decided to share these downloads for free.
    3. Cut out your tabs, this part takes a lot of time if your use scissors but it works.
    4. Fold each tab in half.
    5. Using a blank sheet of copy paper create a diy tab guideline. By simply grabbing a few tabs and align them on one of your bible page. Once you are satisfied with how it looks, mark the placement of each tab on your sheet of copy paper.
    6. Using your diy guideline you are going to begin to go chapter by chapter adhering to your bible tab. Using the adhesive of your choice apply your bible tab!

Before you go I wanted to share a few more ideas that you can add to brighten your bible. If you feeling underwhelmed and need a bit of inspiration. Here are a few ways to index your favorite verse or bookmark the section you read.

How to Color Code and Highlight your Bible

    February 14, 2019
ible study plans | bible study printables | bible study reading plans | bible journaling tips | soap notebook | Soap bible study method | Bible study beginners | #biblestudy | #biblejournaling

There is power in the word. I know reading the Bible can be daunting and a bit scary. But it doesn't have to be. Especially if you can find a bible study and note-taking technique that works for you.

Today I'm sharing my note-taking and highlighting method for reading the bible. The further along I get in my Bible study the more I've recognized the need for a bible color-coding system. It makes all the difference when your re-reading or reviewing text you've previously read.

If you enjoy this post, take a minute to bookmark one of these Bible Study blog posts for later. I promise you will find helpful tips for reading the bible as a beginner.

A bible color-coding system makes it quick and easy to find passages on particular topics. As you know the bible isn't categorized like a textbook. Implementing a system is helpful when you are in need of inspiration, encouragement, or just a word from the Bible.

Like Proverbs for example has a lot of wisdom but this system makes it easy for me to find scriptures on parenting in Proverbs. Although bible verses on parenting may not be important to you. Deciding which categories are important to you will help make bible note-taking easier.

How to Color Code Your Bible
For almost two years I've used my faith journal for my bible note-taking. Along with bible mapping and bible journaling. But now I feel as though it is time for me to expand my bible note taking to include a bible color-coding system. Easily finding bible verses on prayer, Holy Spirit, marriage is important to my spiritual journey.

Creating a table of content on an index card is a great way to keep up with your bible color-coding system. You may find it helpful to also use tabs, washi tape, or sticky notes to mark pages where you've highlighted important text.

I use a highlighter set from Amazon Basic to color code my bible. I do like their highlighters but they were not created for highlighting your bible. If you are new to color coding your bible I would definitely recommend purchasing bible highlighters.

They are supposed to not bleed through the thin Bible pages. Daily Grace Co has a really cute bible highlighter set that has cute inscriptions on it. If you are an Amazon Prime member like me then you may want to check out these bible highlighters which I recently added to my Amazon cart. So I will have to let you know how it goes.

As a thank you for reading my blog, you can download your Color Code Your Bible Bookmark Now - no email needed!

    Christian Girls Must Have

    June 15, 2017

Sometimes we think our best isn't good enough. All we see is our failures. We begin to think there is no way that God could love us in all our chaos, craziness, and confusion. So we turn our backs on God out of fear of being rejected.

When we fail to recognize that God is not human. He is not confined by flesh - like we are. We have to recognize that God is so powerful. God is quite literally supernatural. He is capable of things we've never seen. You have to recognize that you will never be able to even imagine all the things God is capable of.

It all begins with you recognizing just how awesome God is.

Often we stray from God because we don't truly understand who He is. Which is why it is so important to get grounded in His word. Be sure to find you a Faith family that will lift you up when your faith is weak.

Watch the He wants you Back Morning Coffee with Chellbee full video now!

I can't unpack all of God's greatness in this post. But I did want to tell you don't confine God to the flesh. When you confine God to the flesh you limit your own faith.

He said to them, "Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you." Matthew 17:20 ESV

We all know that with Faith alone God can move mountains. You need to have child like faith.

You need to recognize that before you ever failed God already atoned for your sins. He loved you so much even in all of your chaos. He gave his Son to be crucified on your behalf.

He wanted to be sure he would be able to reunite with you in heaven.

You already overcome every failure you face. Simply because God loves you. Thank Jesus Christ for giving his life for unworthy person like me. What an unimaginable sacrifice.

Today I'm challenging you to come back to Christ. Get out of your head! Stop thinking your not worthy and bow before God and serve His Kingdom today.

I'm here to tell you "He wants you back."

It is never to late to give yourself back to Christ. You can never be too far gone. You can never fall too far from God grace. He is a forgiving God.

You may find these Bible Study Tips blog posts helpful when it comes to ideas on how to get started:

Lately, I have been working hard to stay consistent in my spiritual journey. Especially since I don't have a church home. My daily bible study routine has been the focus of my strengthening my relationship with Jesus.

Slowly but surely I have learned quite a bit about what to do and what not to do when bible studying as a beginner. Which inspired me to share this video with you today! If you enjoy this video and find it helpful please subscribe to my YouTube channel.

    4 Bible Study Tips for Beginners {from a Beginner}

    1. Make Bible Study apart of your daily routine.
This tip is vital, I promise you. If you don’t do anything else, do this! Create a morning or evening routine that is centered around bible study.

Bible studying in the morning is so rewarding because throughout the day you know it is already done. Whenever you decide to bible study - whether it is morning or evening - you need to stick with it.

As a thank you for reading my blog, you can download your Bible Journal Challenge now -no email required!

    2. Read a book, and not a verse.
Choose a book in the Bible that interests you and start reading. Reading one book at a time is the best way to get an understanding of what you're reading. Focus on reading the entire book from beginning to end.

I know it can be tempting to skip around but think about it like this. When you read a novel do you read chapter 1 and then skip to chapter 15. No, right because you would be completely lost about what is happening in the novel.

Don’t worry you don’t have to read from Genesis to Revelation. At the very least just read it book by book.

I completely understand if you want to read different reading plans for encouragement or inspiration. Because from time to time you may need some biblical understanding for peace of mind.

Just recognize that reading a bible plan that skips from bible book to bible book is great for inspiration. But inspirational bible reading doesn’t always equal understanding what you read in the bible. Context is everything.

Watch the Bible Study Tips for Beginners {from a Beginner} full video now!

    3. Implement a bible study system and write it down.
A bible study system can consist of bible mapping, bible highlighting, and so. Basically, a bible study system will help you quickly identify what you have read based on the markings or highlighting.

The bible study system you use is up to you but it should be simple and effective. It should make it possible for you to easily see at a glance scriptures you want to remember, questions you had, and things that you wanted to know more about.

Whatever bible study system you decide on be sure to write it down - index cards are a great way to do this. You can use your bible study system notecard as a bookmark. Because it is important to keep it handy while reading your bible.

If you love this post, be sure to pin it <-- be clicking here.

    4. Take notes on what you've read.
Reflecting on your bible study is powerful. Reading without reflecting is not helpful. So be sure to take the time to reflect after you have read your bible.

Personally, I enjoy using the soap method to reflect on what I have read. This is why I love my Faith Journal - it helps give me clarity and holds me accountable.

Whether you use my Faith Journal or a notebook. Writing about what you have read will help you dissect your reading and gain a better understanding. Writing about your bible study will also help you to remember what you read.

Alright, this was way longer than I planned. But I hope you found my four bible study tips for beginners helpful. If you have any tips for bible study be sure to leave a comment below!

How to Bible Journal the S.O.A.P. Method for Beginners Guide

How to Bible Journal the S.O.A.P. Method for Beginners Guide

I’ve been sharing photos of my Bible journaling on InstaStory and I wanted to share my experience with Bible journaling. I consider myself to be like a beginner Christian, although I have always been a Christian and had a relationship with God. I don’t have it all together and I know I have a lot more work to do.

I've been enjoying learning more about the word through Bible Journaling. Being a beginner I know I am not the only person whose a believer but still working on building a better relationship with Christ.

If you enjoy this post, you may find these Bible Study blog post helpful when it comes to reading the bible as a beginner:
I’m hoping my experience will encourage you no matter where you are starting in your journey. Hopefully these tips and printable will make your journey easier. So far I've been consistent with Bible Journaling I've only missed one day thus far.

I've just been enjoying this whole journey. I learned something new every time I read the Bible and I take something different from it every time I read it. My biggest takeaway from Bible Journaling is that reading the Bible is more rewarding when you begin to study and read the bible outside of worship service.

    Random Story
I feel so uplifted because I finally completed reading the entire book of Matthew from beginning to end. I have been trying to read the book of Matthews since the age of 11 years old. Years ago while visiting a church the preacher spoke to me after the sermon and told me I needed to read Matthews.

Don’t get me wrong I definitely tried but I just didn't understand what I was reading. But now as an adult years later with my English Standard Version Bible I'm proud to say I'm done reading the book of Matthews. I’m sorry old school Bible folk I just can’t get down with the Kings James version, believe me I tried.

A Week in my Bible Journal
Every morning after having breakfast I would read my Bible passage for the day usually 1 or 2 versus and then journal. The process of Bible journaling has been therapeutic. It is an opportunity to learn something new.

While also taking the time to reflect on your thoughts about what you've read. Reflection is the most powerful part. The process has really helped me develop a better prayer life.

Bible Journal Step by Step Guide
As far as where to start in the Bible it is completely up to you. You can start with a book that speaks to you or if there is an issue that bothering you search the term and start with the verse that speaks to you. The key to a powerful Bible Journal experience is starting where your heart leads you.

I'm personally not into the artsy Bible Journal, although I don’t see anything wrong with it. It is not my style, I like to keep it simple and easy. The soap method is a simple method for gaining your own understanding of the Bible.

    S.O.A.P. Method

Scripture: Read however many scriptures you would like. Once you are finished choose 2-3 verses that speak to you and write them down in your journal.

Observations: Based on what you read, what were your observations, what was happening, what was the sentiments. You don't need to be technical, using scriptures to explain. Simply summarize the key things that occurred. What about the scripture you read stood out to you?

Application: How does what you read apply to your life? What lessons can you take away? How does what your read still apply to today's times and environment? How did it make you feel? This is also a good place to write any questions you have about what you read.

Pray (or Kneel): Based on what you read, your observations, and applications how do you feel. What do you want to tell God as a result, what do you want to thank him for as a result of what you read, what do you need his help with.

    Beginners Guide to Bible Journal
If you are Bible journaling for the first time here are my personal recommendation.

    • Purchase a Bible (in the text your prefer) skim it before purchasing and make sure it is easy to read. If you can I would recommend purchasing a Study Bible, you can use it to reference the notes and see the opinions in the fore note. I have both and I personally enjoy drawing my own understand. But it is nice to read the notes and see what the fore note state.
    • Purchase highlighters, sticky tabs, colored ink pens, and a journal.
    • Do it first thing in the morning or at night. Grab a cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa and get cozy with your books.
    • Make it a part of your daily routine. Plan for at least 15-25 minutes of just quiet time.
    • You can read as many or as few passage as you would like.
    • There are no rules! So make it your own.

Bible Journal for your Prayer Life
One of the greatest benefits of the Bible journal process is how much it has shaped and helped me create a prayer life. A prayer life is so important to your faith. I have never been extremely confident in my ability to pray which is why I don’t do it aloud.

But Bible journaling has helped my confidence. Writing your prayers down is powerful. I can honestly say I didn't expect to gain this much from this experience. Not that I was skeptical but I just thought it seemed simple and didn’t realize how I would leave this process feeling empowered.
