In today's society distractions are constant. Early on as a blogger I wasted a lot of time on unproductive distractions (i.e. social media, television, eating/snacking, the internet, email, etc.). I would love to say I had an epiphany and created a solution based on my experience but that is not the case.
In the past, I've (Read: How to Relieve Stress in 10 Minutes) discussed how much I enjoy reading about other entrepreneurs and their experiences. Reading, watching, or listening to others in your field is the best way to learn there is always a nugget of motivation, inspiration, or lesson you can learn.
I found an astounding trend among several of the entrepreneurs I recently read about, they all consistently took a moment every morning to just clear their mind before beginning their day. One of my favorites was an Erica Nicole interview #HerStory, she actually coined the "Clarity Moment" phrase.
A clarity moment is an amazing way to start your day. Your clarity moment can vary based on what your needs are. The goal of the clarity moment is that you leave it feeling motivated and prepared to start the day. Personally, I wake up early (almost) every day to clear my thoughts, refocus on the big picture, and pray. Clarity moments allow you to re-energize and take time for yourself.
5 Simple Steps to Achieve a Clarity Moment
- Be prepared (Read: 8 Ways to be More Productive)
- Make a strong to do list - prior to when you plan to work.
- Set aside 10-15 minute -uninterrupted for yourself.
- Meditate, Pray, Yoga, or Stretch beforehand.
- Start Your Day/To-Do List
