In today's world of chaos and commotion we get so caught up in our day to day we lose sight of who we are and what we want. We are just going through the motions working or going to school just trying to make it through the day. I was talking to a friend recently and she was telling me about an epiphany she had. Busy with her day to day existence, she had lost sight of who she is. She realized she could not answer simple questions about herself, like her favorite color or song. She became so detached from who she is, that she no longer knew who she was.

There are so many distractions between social media, television, and the internet it makes it that much easier to forget about ourselves. Often times I think we enjoy the mind numbing distractions because we are afraid to be with our own thoughts. We rarely take time for ourselves, to simply enjoy being, and reflect. Have you ever truly looked around you and appreciated your surrounding. I usually take a moment daily and stare outside, which is one of reasons I love living in the country. 

 

Alone Time

I can't stress enough how important it is to take some me time away from everything. When life gets hectic it's important to take a moment and just be with yourself. After a rough day at work I usually put on my pj and grab a cup of time and just sit in my office alone.

Breathe

Kick off your shoes, take a set, and smell the air. If your like me you'll burn a candle (what can I say I love the smell of cookies).

 

Write

If you feeling wound up and your mind is running a thousand miles a minute. The best thing you can do is grab a pen and journal, and just write down your thoughts.

There are tons of inspirational and helpful books out there. When I am really having a bad day, I'll read about successful entrepreneurs to helps stay motivated. Knowing that they have struggled and overcome reminds me to keep making strides towards my goals.

When I'm working at my desk, I always to try create a well cared for environment. I close my door, light a candle, turn on my music (always Pandora), and grab a cup of coffee or tea. I'm able to relax, focus on myself, and be with my thoughts (whatever they may be in that moment).
