Take the Leap! How to Overcome Fear
Fear by definition is an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain or a threat. Fear is a very underhanded emotion. It is a sneaky little devil. If you’re not careful fear can keep you from becoming who you want to be. Time will continue to pass you by before you realize that it was your fear that kept you down.
When I initially had the idea to launch my blog and business, I being the planner I am- came up with a detailed plan, checklist, budget, and mental timeline. But for some reason, every opportunity I got to work on my plan, I would suddenly be too sick, tired, or busy. My partner in crime would check in with me and my progress and I would always have some reason why I did less than I planned too. Finally, when time was no an issue, it turned into “I don’t have the money I need to do what I need to launch this blog.” I had every excuse in the world why I couldn’t be successful in the execution of my ideas. This, for anyone who knows me, is strange; because I’m not someone who makes excuses. I just don’t believe in excuses.
Personally, I think they’re unacceptable and I would much rather acknowledge my shortcomings and move forward towards a solution. But at the time I was doing the exact opposite. Every obstacle I could think of plagued my mind and overtook me: “My expenses are too high”, “I need a higher paying job”, “I have to save for my wedding”, and my excuses were endless. The truth of the matter was that none of the before mentioned things were new. I was accustomed to my income and expenses and made all my bills and saving goals monthly. Would I have liked to make more, yes, but I knew an additional job was not the answer. So why was I spending so much time trying to remedy issues, that had nothing to do with nothing.
Fear! Fear had grasped me so tightly I didn't even know what was bothering me. My fear of failure & rejection held me back from taking the steps I knew were necessary to get the dream life that I deserved. Something as simple as self-reflection helped me worked through that.
If you don't take the time to think about what’s happening, how you feel about it, and why you feel the way you do, time will continue to pass and your goals will stay meaningless letters on a piece of paper (or in today's world text on a tablet or computer screen). Don't let fear stop you from living your dream life because you deserve it!
3 Step on How to Overcome Fear
Take a minute and breath. Often times fear causes us to become overwhelmed with emotions. So just breath and calm down.
Think it through. Fear can cause us to become irrational. Remind yourself of the worst case scenario of your fear. If the worst case scenario doesn't cause you or someone else bodily injury or death. Then...
Take the leap, believe in yourself! I know that it is not easy but you can not allow fear to stop you from being the amazing person you are.
